Our foundation supports a range of programs and services to meet the needs of the people who live in Dogano. Our primary focus is to meet the needs of the children in the village and its surrounding communities. The funds we raise through Waljaalladhaa allows the children to attend pre-school and Kindergarten in the neighborhood. Before Waljaaladhaa, these children would have to walk four miles each way to attend the nearest elementary school. Parents often worried about sending their young children on this long walk daily, and as a result, many delayed their enrollment until they were confident the child can make the journey safely. This delay greatly impacts the success of the student in the future. By starting this school, parents feel at ease with their young ones in school nearby, and these pre-K and Kindergarteners are able to start their education journey on the right foot. The early years are vital to foster a child’s sense of curiosity and love for education.
In the last two years, Waljaalladhaa has helped fifty-one students graduate and go on to continue their education at the elementary school in the nearest village. These children are able to compete with their peers at a much higher level because they haven’t missed out on the crucial early years of education.
Listen to some of the student's testimonies of how the school benefited them and their families.

For every $1 invested in high-quality early childhood education, our society receives up to a $7-$12 return on investment. Children who participate in high-quality early childhood education are more likely to graduate high school, have a lower risk of heart disease and obesity, and have higher income as adults.
